Halong Bay, Vietnam

Halong Bay is one of the most iconic and well known parts of a Vietnam. Just a 2 hour drive from Hanoi lies the clear emerald waters and thousands of towering limestone islands topped by rainforests which encompass the incredible bay.

I went on the Castaway Party Cruise, however there are hundreds of different tours available! My tour began with two hours kayaking through the caves and around the many islets. The views were unbelievably stunning and it felt so surreal to be in such a well known UNESCO world heritage sites.

The evening was spent watching the sun set and cruising around the islands topped with numerous cocktails. I’ve definitely had worse evenings!

The next day we sailed to Cat Ba Island which is the main island in Halong Bay. Our tour came with a private Bay, secluded away from all the main tourist areas. The views were amazing it was just a shame it wasn’t warmer.

Next we took a trip to Monkey Island – a deadly Island as they are so comfortable with humans that they come and climb on you and steal your food/drinks/anything!!!

Our final evening in Halong Bay was spent watching the Asian football league finals, Vietnam vs Uzbekistan. The atmosphere was electric with every Vietnamese person on the island turning up, police, taxi drivers, shop owners, everyone! The town went into standstill! Unfortunately, one minute before the end Uzbekistan scores and won and many many people cried!

The weekend was long and exhausting but so incredible as Halong has been on the top of my bucket list for so long! With only 1 day left in the north I’m ready to begin travelling south to find the sun!!
